Bye to Denver.jpg (15716 bytes)

Okay, so you're wondering "What the heck is this, and why should I care?"  Well, it's just that the first trip's first photo is a picture of the New York City skyline.  I tried to replicate this by showing a shot of the Denver skyline for the beginning of Part II.  Not much luck.  But in case you're wondering where the Denver skyline is, look below at this close-up.

What My email Said: Retrospective:
Made it to spgs in 87.5 miles at 10.6 mph. Many BIG hills. Much wind. 3 wrong turns. Very tired, but alive. All in all, it was a horrible day.  Well, not quite true.  The scenery was beautiful.  But getting out of Denver took FOREVER and I was late in trying to meet my brother Mark on the outskirts of town, so that was disappointing.   And then there were enormous hills unlike anything I'd trained with.  And then there was the two beers and two burritos from the night before which made things a bit of a living hell.

And then there was the wind, who refused to leave me be for most of the day.  By the time I got to Colorado Springs, I was beat.
